In all, if you are like me - one who likes to hear great orchestration made simple, you will truly enjoy this compilation from the great musician. Prior to listening to the music, I was rather skeptical and worried if classic Tamil lyrics and symphonic orchestra would blend or not. But Ilaiyaraja has once again proved that he is a genius of very high calibre and made the blending as pleasant as possible. His characterestic voice and composition were awe-inspiring to listen to. Track-Poovar evokes feelings as would be evoked by a vedic hymn; Track-Pollavinaiye brings such uncontrollable emotions out that, I literally cried at the verse, 'Namasivaya Vazhga, Nathan thaal Vazhga'; Track-Putril is a masterpiece.

I kept wondering as to how could the metre of the lyrics written thousands of years ago, fit into the tunes of the maestro. In all, it was a pleasurable experience to listen to Ilaiyaraja and I would rank this album as one of my top-10 favorites. Starting from the first movement, the whole oratorio is riveting.
